PD Dr. Friedrich Longin

Head of the Wheat Department at the State Seed Breeding Institute, University of Hohenheim, Stuttgart. His working group is engaged in breeding and research in spelt, durum wheat, common wheat, einkorn, and emmer. The successful reintroduction of spelt and the establishment of durum wheat in Germany are largely due to this work. He is the founder and head of the Spelt Wheat Working Group, in which key players from the entire production chain in Germany, Austria and Switzerland are working to promote the cultivation of the Einkorn, Emmer and Dinkel cereals in a targeted and sustainable manner. He also chairs the Durum and Pasta Committee at the Arbeitsgemeinschaft Getreideforschung e. V. in Detmold.
